Room to Grin… and Grow
The street kids who work the entrance gate of the Killing Fields memorial on the outskirt of Phnom Penh usually spend their days dusting off cars, or polishing windows in the hopes of raising a few cents from the visitors to the memorial near their home. Now they have a new option. Working together with Sinan one of your church members living nearby, we were able to establish a new micro-library and mini-school in her home. Books from our main library supplemented with English teaching materials, pens, notebooks, and a whiteboard will give her a chance to start daily lessons with the kids. The kids are excited. A few have never attended any kind of school and others haven’t been to school for years. Sinan with her enthusiasm and this small start should bring the kids a brighter, safer future.
